To always be dependent on God

This morning we visited First Baptist Dallas Church. A very uplifting experience. Prayer is a big part of this congregation. When a new church building was built a few years ago, the idea of prayer benches in the rows of chairs was moved into the new building. In the middle of the service, the pastor calls for a prayer break when he kneels in front of the pulpit. Down in the rows of benches, the visitors unfold the prayer benches and everyone takes a moment to kneel in prayer.
In a large nearby building owned by the congregation, the top floor is dedicated to prayer. There is also a prayer service there throughout the entire time the services are in progress.
In the midst of what the congregation is and has been, it is reflected in an atmosphere of prayer and dependence on God. It was often emphasized during the tour that what has happened has been possible because of God’s grace and the generosity of people. The congregation has seen approximately 1800 decisions for Jesus in the past two years and is completely debt-free on its new building.
To always be dependent on God is a secret that every Christian community should cherish tenderly.
