Make the Christmas story from the children’s perspective. You can do it with a narrator and let the children play different roles. There never needs to be more than 8 people in the group that gathers for recording.
You can also record in different batches and cut it all together.
Today, mobile phone cameras are sufficient for recording movies. Just make sure the phone is held still and there is enough light. If you do this with a couple of phones, you can achieve a fantastic cinematic effect by switching the image perspective and then adding sound.
