Campaigns/Tent meeting

About 40 years ago, it was common to have longer periods of tent meetings/campaigns.
Some churches have started to take up the tradition. Important ingredients are the opportunity to reach new people and make room for the gift of the evangelist.

An example today is Sebastian Stakset who travels around Sweden, collecting for campaigns and reaching thousands of people. An example of perseverance is Edsväraveckan which has been going on since 1940.

Key factors:

  • That there is a good invitation to these gatherings through people/churches that are active in the area.
  • That different types of media are used to disseminate information.
  • That there will be some kind of continuity.
  • That follow-up is done quickly – the Billy Graham campaigns had 24 hours as the key figure for maximum time before having follow-up contact with those who decided to become Christians.
