Church presence online

Many churches today are investing in some form of “Online Campus”.
Back in 2006, the congregation Life.Church started its online presence.
In 2016, First Baptist Church in Dallas hired an online pastor and reached thousands of people through its online ministry.
Simon Andersson was recently interviewed in Dagen and says that the Church of the King, where he is the online pastor, reaches approximately 20,000 people online every weekend. 8,000 of them come physically to the various campuses that the church has.

In Sweden, almost 98 percent of the population has access to the Internet. 91 percent use the Internet daily. 5 out of 10 Internet users use Facebook daily. 3 out of 10 Internet users use Youtube daily.

With a few simple measures, any local church can ensure it is accessible to people using the internet.

Some tips:
1. Publish generally interesting content on social media – when you do something for people in need, what happens “behind the scenes” or people and positive facial expressions.
2. Think about what the church stands for and feel free to post Bible verses both during the church year’s holidays and on an ongoing basis.
3. Feel free to use a wide range of colors in posts and publications. It’s about people and they’re all in different situations. Everyone has different frames of reference – connect to the “width”.
4. Create a team that can handle “feedback”.
5. Do “give-away” initiatives at regular intervals. Those who come to church because they’ve seen information on the Internet can get a nice book.
6. Keep the website updated. It’s the “door” into the church. So make sure there’s relevant, interesting and so exciting information there that people want to open the door.
7. Try giving away “free prayer” through Facebook advertising. Many churches have grown dramatically through that contact.
8. Advertise on social media. (Let the church’s Facebook page have a continuous advertisement for new followers + advertise specific initiatives such as Alpha.)

Please follow the Salvation Army’s social media accounts to see how they work. They are “outstanding” in Sweden.
