Find some willing volunteers to put on a safety vest for a few hours to protect an empty cot. Chris Duffet has been doing this for a few years now and people ask those who participate what they do. The answers may vary:
“We are waiting for a king to be born!”
“A baby will be born soon!”
“The king is coming.”
“Apparently a king will be born soon.”
People are watching and trying to figure out what the strange vision means… You can offer little tracts or New Testaments to people who make contact. On several occasions people just say, “Aha, I get it…”
The idea came from British artist Mark Wallinger. The Guardian reported on this installation in Leicester Square.
High-visibility vests only cost 159 SEK at Bolist.
You can get a full high-visibility jacket from 229 SEK at Hemfint.
A foldable travel cot can be ordered from Jollyroom for 529 SEK.
Chris has also done it with participants who have acted it out as a Christmas game and the assignment has been to guard the bed, hand out literature and answer the question of what they actually do.
It has worked well as a Christmas game.
